ABOUT IPSMF

The International Photography and Short Movie Festival (IPSMF) is an annual international competition organized by the Faculty of Communication and Business, Telkom University, Bandung. IPSMF serves as a platform for an engaging competition showcasing talents across various exchanges of ideas in the form of artistic works, namely photography and short movie.

In 2024, IPSMF has a central theme to guide participants’ exchange of ideas and concepts, titled “Capturing the Beauty of Cultural Streets From Multiple Perspectives”. This theme highlights the enchanting aspects of streets, examining them from the perspective of human diversity, encompassing race, culture, ethnicity, religion, and more. Such diversity gives rise to the distinctive characteristics of street life, which can be immortalized as works of art through photography and short movie. The event also features sub-themes such as street art and street life. These two sub-themes help to become more specified as part of this year’s theme, which is Street Culture.

Through the organization of this festival, it is hoped to serve as a platform for creative competition among photographers and short movie artists. Serving as a bridge to showcase ideas and concepts through photography and short movie on an international scale, which can be participated in by various countries, IPSMF aims to introduce the beauty of street life from diverse nations.

Capturing Beauty of Cultural Streets From Multiple Perspectives

Prioritizes the beauty of the streets by highlighting the diversity of human interests, which includes culture from various points of view, which can be seen from differences such as race, ethnicity, culture, language, religion, age, ability, and social stratification. On the other hand, culture is not only created to give meaning to something formal, but culture can also arise accidentally in various unexpected places, including the street. At least the cultural diversity that emerges on the streets is about memory and emotion. Furthermore, the culture that arises from the “streets” themselves can present the world of painting, photography, videography, dance, and music and can even become a theater stage for artists out there, with culture, characteristics, and uniqueness from various parts of the world. The has a place in every human’s heart with a desire that every human feels.

  1. Street Life. Street becomes a big window for every human being to feel, discover, and create various things. Such as the many differences and uniqueness in social terms, interactions between humans (generational differences), the distribution of multiple emotions, social inequality, social activities carried out by communities, and other things.
  2. Street Art. Street are also a place for humans to express themselves with creativity and activities. By dancing, painting, taking pictures, making performances, graffiti, forming street art communities, architecture, etc. Street art can not only display beauty but can also be a place for artistic dialogue for society and create imaginative characters.
